The system of tags in CoinKeeper is flexible therefore it can be used in many different ways. We describe 4 ways of using the tags.
1. Tag as a simple subcategory
When tags are used within one category only, that makes them suitable for control of spending in it. For example, you can create such tags as "dairy", "sweets" or "meat" in the category "Groceries" or "gasoline" and "service center" in the category "Car". You will quickly understand what the most of all money within one category is spent for.
2. Tag as generalization of several categories
One tag is used in different categories and allows to compare your expenses in different categories.
3. Tag as an index of a place
This way helps to understand in what places you spend most of all money.
4. The tag as an indicator of an event
Helps to check expenses on a certain event or action. Write down expenses in your usual categories, but attach the tag corresponding to an event. A standard example here is the use of the tags "Travel", "Birthday", "Holiday", etc.
